What is Cataract?

A cataract is a clouding of normally clear, natural crystalline lens in your eye. This clouding is usually due to the ageing and other causes like eyes trauma, heredity, diabetes, and even some medications, whatever the cause cataract typically result in blurred or fuzzy vision and sensitivity to light.

The Treatment

With the help of modern technology the cataract can be treated safely and effectively through a microsurgical technique called “Phaco Emulsification” commonly referred to as laser surgery. Phaco requires a small incision of only 3.2 mm or less. In fact cataract surgery today is one of the most successful surgical procedures performed. About 99% of all surgeries result in an improvement in vision. The best way to treat cataract is to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with a new clear artificial lens.

Lens Implant

Every human being is unique and has different requirements, Hence there are several intra ocular lenses which includes Non Foldable, foldable, Aspheric Foldable to give better vision in dim light condition, Toric Lenses to correct high cylindrical error, Multi Focal lenses for minimum dependence on glasses, accommodative lenses for the same purpose. At our centre the success of cataract surgery by Phaco emulsification is more than 99%. We are using all latest IOL available in the world and we use plenty of imported consumables for ex. We exclusively used Alcon Phaco Blades in our entire cataract surgery patient. Depending on the age and life style every patient requires different type of lenses. Your doctor or trained counselor will advice that which lens is good for you.
